The driver of the vehicle, a 43-year-old female, was eastbound on Broadway Road when she failed to stop at a red light at the intersection, Hegstrom said. The sedan hit the scooter, which was idling in the median lane.
After hitting the scooter, the car hit a pole and came to a stop, Hegstrom said. The driver was extricated and air-lifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The rider of the scooter, a 52-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Scooter was being deposed by the lawyer for a photog who accused Bieber’s bodyguards of beating him. TMZ got hold of the transcript, and it’s pretty epic. As the camera is trained on Scooter, he turns the tables, asking the photog’s lawyer, “Why is the camera not on you and only on me?”
A spokesperson for Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office says a red sedan was heading down Broadway at about 7:40am Saturday when the driver failed to stop for a red light. The sedan crashed into a scooter that was waiting in the median lane, and then wound up crashing into a light pole.
The driver of the scooter died on the scene. The woman driving the sedan was flown to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The intersection was shut down while deputies investigate the accident. Drivers have been advised to use other routes.
In another exchange, Scooter blows off a technical question, sarcastically saying, “I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know what is public or what is sealed. I like to watch a lot of ‘Law & Order,’ and I’m a huge fan of Jack McCoy … but I don’t know if what he does is actual law, or just the stuff I watch on TV.”
